In Kotohira, a town built on tourism, growing attention is being paid to two key topics: the tourism accommodation tax and DMOs (Destination Management Organizations).

“Is the accommodation tax really necessary?”
“Who uses the money, and how is it managed?”
“What exactly is a DMO, and why is it important?”

Starting from these questions, we’re hosting an evening study session where we can think together about how to grow tourism as a community.

We’ll be joined by Mr. Keiichiro Yamada, a leading tourism strategist who works around the world from his base in Switzerland.

Tourism operators, local residents, government staff, and those connected to Kotohira — let’s gather to talk about the future of our town.
