Kotohira: Creating a Future Food Culture with Sanuki Oden × Sake!

2025.08.29

19:00~21:00(受付開始:18:45)

Combining the charm of the new local food culture Sanuki Oden and local Kagawa sake, this workshop-style event invites participants to enjoy the pairing of oden and sake while also thinking together about local food, tourism, and how to make use of community resources. Along with the sake community Sake Komachi, you’ll get to experience sake recommendations that pair with oden, as well as unique tastings like oden broth cocktails. Let’s spend a delicious time where taste and ideas meet.

🍢 Kotohira’s First! What is this new food culture “Sanuki Oden”?

Kagawa is known as the “Udon Prefecture,” but the rich appeal of its dashi broth also lives on in oden. A single pot of oden, gently simmered, shared with the person next to you — it creates a warm moment where “deliciousness” and “connection” coexist.
Sanuki Oden is a food culture we hope to nurture here in Kotohira. How can we expand it — through local ingredients, styles of eating, and presentation? Let’s think it through together.

🥂 A New Community Connected by What We Love: Sake Komachi

Sake Komachi is a Japanese sake community for people in their 20s–30s who love sharing drinks and social experiences. Their mission is to make sake feel more approachable for their generation — by drinking, playing, and creating together. It’s a welcoming “third place” where anyone can relax and enjoy themselves.

They also work directly with breweries, and the joy of the community is being able to “contribute to what you love.” Rather than money or efficiency, they act on the values of “fun” and “supporting what you’re passionate about.” For this event, Sake Komachi members will gather in Kotohira to explore new possibilities of pairing sake with Sanuki Oden. Why not join the circle and discover new encounters and ideas?

🍶 Kotohira’s Sake: Nishino Kinryo Brewery as Guest

Founded over 230 years ago, Kinryo is a historic sake brewery in Kotohira. Using the pure waters of the Sanuki Plain and high-quality rice, they create sake rooted in Kagawa’s climate and traditions. Loved for its gentle texture and deep flavor, Kinryo is also essential at local festivals and events.
At the entrance of Konpira Shrine, they operate Kinryo no Sato, a free museum housed in a restored Edo-era brewery, where you can see historical brewing tools up close. For this event, Master Brewer Shiro Sakai and Kinryo no Sato’s director Akira Takahashi will join as guests to share sake that pairs with Sanuki Oden and the stories behind their craft.
